It has been two weeks since we returned from Epicor Insights 2026 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville. Having taken some time to step back and process the high volume of announcements, breakout sessions, and technical deep-dives, we have synthesized what these updates mean for the future of digital commerce.

As an e-commerce partner, our primary focus was evaluating the latest roadmaps for Kinetic, Prophet 21 (P21), and Eclipse ERPs, and identifying how these changes will impact our clients’ storefronts. Here is our practical overview of the most significant takeaways from the event.

An Open Ecosystem Approach to AI

While AI was a central theme across the keynotes, Epicor’s strategy focused on flexibility rather than proprietary constraints.

The Key Announcement: Epicor will soon allow businesses to connect their chosen AI solutions directly into their ERP workflows.

Rather than locking users into a single, native AI ecosystem, this open approach allows organizations to leverage their preferred third-party platforms or custom models. For e-commerce, this provides the flexibility to integrate tailored solutions for predictive ordering, customer service routing, and data management without being forced into a rigid vendor ecosystem.

Epicor Commerce Performance Optimizations

Epicor introduced several backend updates designed to improve the core speed and efficiency of Epicor Commerce Performance. These developments focus heavily on architectural stability:

  • Advanced Image Compression: Native optimizations reduce image file sizes without sacrificing quality, helping to improve page load times and mobile performance.
  • Enhanced Caching Architecture: Improved caching reduces repetitive server requests, which stabilizes performance during high-traffic periods on B2B ordering portals.
  • OpenSearch Integration: The transition to OpenSearch aims to deliver faster, more accurate, and more scalable on-site search functionality for end-users.

Feature Updates: Subscriptions and Document Attachments

While net-new feature rollouts were relatively limited this year, two functional updates are highly relevant for expanding digital business models.

B2C Subscriptions Rollout

Subscription-based recurring sales, which were previously restricted to registered B2B account sales, are now being rolled out for B2C customers. This allows brands to offer recurring purchasing options to guest or retail consumers.

  • Note: This feature is currently limited to businesses utilizing the native Epicor Payment Gateway.

Account-Level Document Attachments

To improve self-service capabilities, users can now manage account-level document attachments directly through the storefront. This simplifies B2B administrative workflows by allowing buyers to upload tax exemption certificates, compliance forms, or corporate agreements directly to their profiles, which then sync back to Kinetic, P21, or Eclipse.

Future of Epicor Commerce

Having worked closely with the EC product team, recent and near future releases hold less interest than the long term view and plan for the product. Continuing the theme, focus for the future is on speed, performance and stability.

Hyvä theme development was hinted at as an active project for the product team. While no firm release date or target was set, suggestions and responses to questions would lead us to believe this would be a feature of next years Insights conference.

Operational Culture: Insights from Nick Saban

Beyond the technical sessions, the event featured a keynote by former football coach Nick Saban, who discussed building successful organizational cultures and developing talent.

Insights speaker

Saban emphasized a process-driven approach over an outcome-driven one:

“Transactional leaders focus entirely on the outcomes, which creates anxiety. Transformational leaders focus intensely on the process. When you focus on the next execution with discipline, the winning takes care of itself.”

This perspective aligns closely with the discipline required for complex ERP integration and e-commerce development, where steady, structured execution is critical to long-term project success.

Conclusion

The conference concluded with a performance by country artist Miranda Lambert, closing out the Nashville experience.

Now that the dust has settled, the direction for Epicor is clear. The emphasis on open AI connectivity, paired with targeted performance enhancements and functional B2C updates, gives us a solid framework to help our clients optimize their ERP-to-web workflows moving forward.
